On Sunday 24 September 2023, in Rome, ETHNOA signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Beijing Institute for International Olympic Studies (BIIOS), one of the largest universities in China, in cooperation with the Italian Olympic Academy (AONI).
The signing of the Memorandum was honoured with the presence of the Executive Director of the International Fair Play Committee Mr. Gabor Deregan, the Secretary General of the European Fair Play Movement, Mr. Ioannis Psilopoulos (on line), the President of the Fair Play Comitato Nazionale Italiano Mr. Ruggero Alcanterini, the President of ETHNOA Mr. Giorgos Alikakos (on line) and the Director of Scuola Dello Sport Ms. Rossana Ciuffetti.
Present were Mr. HE Ming, Party Secretary, Mr. ZUO Wei, Director of the Department of Cooperation and Exchange, Mr. ZHANG Fan, Director of Human Resource, Ms. LI Tingting, Director of the Department of Development and Planning, Prof. Gennaro Testa, Professor of Sociology, International Projects and Initiatives Ambassador of the Italian Olympic Academy (AONI), creator of the «International Fair Play Passport» and the Director of ETHNOA Ms. Denise Panagopoulou.
Mr. HE Ming, Party Secretary of BIIOS, spoke about the University's actions and activities, stating that he was particularly pleased about this long-term cooperation, which is based on a common strategic vision for the promotion of the Olympic ideals and Olympic values, aiming at the global promotion of «fair play».
The President of the Italian Olympic Academy (AONI) Mr. Mauro Checcoli, OLY expressed his satisfaction for this great cooperation and the President of ETHNOA Mr. George Alikakos stressed the importance of the cooperation between all the institutions and his great pleasure that the «International Fair Play Passport», through this memorandum of understanding, travels to China.
The use of the «International Fair Play Passport» is an excellent tool for the coexistence and cooperation of peoples with different cultures.
The Olympic Values, with the vehicle of the «International Fair Play Passport», travel without borders, positively influencing the whole society.
‘All the collaborating institutions, utilizing their know-how, research and educational programmes, will contribute to the best possible transmission of the Olympic Idea to the youth of their countries.
Mr. Gabor Deregan, Executive Director of the International Fair Play Committee, said that he will be very happy in the near future to work closely together, both with the University of China, and with the Greek and Italian partners, to succeed in taking the value of Fair Play to the sky, all together!
Mr. Ioannis Psilopoulos, Secretary General of the European Fair Play Movement, noted that this memorandum is an important tool for the promotion of the Olympic Values through academic cooperation and the exchange of educational resources.
Fair Play as a key factor of the Olympic Values is a key issue in this agreement and the «International Fair Play Passport» can be a supporting tool, serving as a messenger for the importance of ethics and integrity in sport and in society as a whole.
The European Fair Play Movement will help to fulfil the objectives of this Memorandum to the extent permitted by its Statutes.
