In a full auditorium of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, full of guests of all ages and in the presence of members of the HOC Plenary, the National Olympic Academy, but also of our sponsors, sports bodies, schools, Olympic champions and champions, the awards for young artists who took part in competitions and activities of the National Olympic Academy took place.
The event opened with a video presentation of the three-day educational trip of fourteen (13) schools from Greece and Cyprus, and two (2) and two (2) from the Diaspora, one from Europe and one from Africa in the framework of the 4from Olympic Week, at the premises of the Hellenic Olympic Committee and the headquarters of the International Olympic Academy in Ancient Olympia.
The President of ETHNOA Mr. George Alikakos spoke enthusiastically about the programme of the Olympic Week, which this year exceeded all previous participation, but also about the other programmes that embrace youth in Greece and abroad and stressed that the educational programmes of the HOC-ETHNOA are created to support Olympic Education in the best possible way.
The success of the three-day educational trip was contributed by our partners, Olympic champions Victor Mitrou, George Tzelilis, George Chalkidis, Nikos Skiathitis, Yannis Tsilis, Stegios Papachristos, Eleftheria Ftouli, the distinguished world & European champions, Angelos Lemanis, Anna Charalambidou, Christina Kaltsa, Christina Zachariadou and Lefteris Kovanis, who support the actions and programs of ETHNOA and Spyros Avgoustis and Denise Panagopoulou for their significant contribution to all the educational programs of ETHNOA. He then thanked in particular the doctor Ms. Pella Petrakis Kavvadia for her extremely interesting presentation on the contribution of exercise to improving our health.
The Secretary General of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Mr. Manolis Kolympadis, after expressing his joy at watching the video of the three-day educational trip of the schools to Ancient Olympia, spoke warmly about the programmes of the HOC-NOTHENA that give the opportunity to our youth to come close to sport, to embrace the Olympic values and to use them in their everyday life for the benefit of society. The experiences they acquire through these activities, as he stressed, are multiple: sporting, cultural and environmental.
IOA President Mr. Isidoros Kouvelos stressed that it is a pleasure and an honour to be at the event and pointed out that without education and sport there is no future.
He also congratulated the President of NTHNOA that since 2017 NTHNOA has taken off and reached close to the Schools, close to those who need to be educated.
He then referred to the successful cooperation between ETHNOA and the IOA for the programme «Experience the Olympic Values», which is carried out for the country's high schools in Ancient Olympia, where the IOA provides the facilities and ETHNOA implements the educational project in its entirety. Finally, he thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Haris Kavvadias for their contribution to the Greek community.
At the artistic awards event in the framework of the 4from Olympic Week, Mr. Haris Kavvadias, and the company Allianz with its representatives Mrs. Iva Marini and Mr. Evangelos Titopoulos were honored.
The President of ETHNOA, Mr. George Alikakos thanked Mr. Harry Kavvadias, CEO of Megaplast, who supported the program by supporting the participation in the Olympic Week of the Greek students, 8 children and 2 accompanying teachers from the Primary School of Louboubasi, L.A. D. Congo, a school where he himself attended, covering all the expenses of their trip from Africa to Greece and the company Allianz, which for another year provided insurance coverage for all participants in the three-day educational trip.
From the Hellenic Olympic Committee and the National Olympic Academy honored with their presence the event and made awards, the Secretary General of the HOC Mr. Mr. George Alikakos, the President of the IOA Mr. Isidoros Kouvelos, the President of the Marketing Committee of the EOC Mr. Nikos Iatrou and members of the EOC Plenary, Mr. Michalis Fisentzidis, Mr. Thanasis Papageorgiou, Mr. Kostis Liarommatis, Mr. Thomas Tokas, Mr. Fotis Kaimenakis and members of the Board of Directors of ETHNOA, the President of the SEO and Olympic Wrestling Champion Ms. Voula Zygouri, Ms. Xenia Argeitaki, Assistant Professor of SEFAA, University of Athens, as well as the Educational Attaché of the French Embassy in Greece Ms. Veronique Bruez and her associate Ms. Ysabelle Mabire, the Paralympic Swimming Champion Mr. Yiannis Kostakis and the Director of the French Institute IDEF Mr. Stelios Amargianakis.
Then followed the awards for our young artists for the 4η Olympic week, but also for the competition held in the framework of the organization of the Olympic Games “Paris 2024”, where the Hellenic Olympic Committee - EOE, the French Embassy of Greece, the National Olympic Academy - ETHNOA and the French Institute of Greece, invited schools of all levels of the country, to participate in the «Journey of the Olympic Flame in France» creating works related to one of the French cities through which the Olympic flame will pass during the torch relay “Paris 2024”.
Thus, through research, knowledge and experience, they can approach the treasures (historical, cultural, environmental, etc.) of the city they will choose and create a project which can be a visual creation (painting, photo collage), a 3D construction or a short video relay race.
The children, from primary and secondary schools, from Greece, Cyprus and the Diaspora, gave us the pleasure to enjoy their artistic creations that contained sports, environmental and social messages and literally delighted us!
The prize, the choreography with the largest group was won by the 87th Primary School of Eastern Thessaloniki.
The prize was an interactive painting and diploma and a commemorative gift
The prize for the choreography with the best stage presence won the 2nd High School of Alexandroupolis
The prize is a lap top for the School and a diploma and souvenir gift
The same award for the Primary Schools was won by Adamas Primary School
The prize for the choreography with the best messages, won the 2nd Dem. Aegina
The award for the best message for the high school was won by the Pammakaristou Special Vocational Education and Training Laboratory
Apart from the choreography, the children made a visual journey «the Coloured Brush on the Road to Paris» curated by the excellent artist Mrs. Ioanna Tsakhtsirli and created with their brushes a special poster for «Paris 2024» sending through their painting inspiration a strong global message for Peace in the world.
