
The «I love sports - Kids’ Athletics» programme is offered free of charge and is implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports (https://www.minedu.gov.gr/) and the Ministry of National Defence with the support of the Pavlos and Alexandra Kanellopoulou Foundation (https://pacf.gr/) by Greek Olympians and distinguished athletes.
In the context of this programme, the role of the Hellenic Olympic Committee and the National Olympic Academy in the promotion of sport, the fan spirit and extracurricular physical exercise in accordance with the principles of the Olympic Ideal, as well as the educational value of sport in the formation of the personality of young people in the modern conditions we all experience.
The aim of the Programme is to offer students a rich educational and informative material on the history of the Stadium, which is a timeless symbol of sport, culture and history in the centre of today's Athens and at the same time, through an organised sports programme in the form of a game, to give students the opportunity to get to know the sports of Athletics, Basketball and Volleyball.
During the programme, students have the opportunity, through the automatic tour system provided by the Hellenic Olympic Committee at the Kallimarmaro, to learn about the history of the Panathinaikos Stadium and, at the same time, to get to know the sports of athletics, volleyball and basketball in an experiential way». The programme is addressed to two age categories, the first one for grades 1, 2 and 3 and the second one for grades 4, 5 and 6 of primary school. The «Kids’ Athletics» program, which takes place every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, includes track and field events. The «I Love Sports» programme, which takes place every Tuesday and Thursday, includes volleyball and basketball.
The Kids« Athletics programme of the World Athletics Federation (World Athletics) is a set of motor and functional skills adapted to the needs of children according to their age and includes three groups of events: running, throwing and jumping.
The program «Play Volleyball» of the Greek Volleyball Federation includes exercises, targets and pins with special balls, depending on the age of the children and is implemented in the specially designed area in the track of the Panathinaikos Stadium. In addition, the students are introduced to the popular sport of basketball and its basic secrets.
At the end of the programme, commemorative diplomas are offered as a reward for the effort and participation of all the children.

Conduct of the project
The program is conducted daily at the Panathinaiko Stadium from 09:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m., by experienced Physical Education teachers and lasts about 2 hours (visit from 09:00 to 11:00 or 11:00 to 13:00).
The programme is addressed to primary schools throughout the country.
Rules
Children must come to the venue in appropriate sports clothing and sports shoes. It is considered necessary for pupils to have submitted to the school to which they belong, the «student health card», provided by law, for the participation of pupils in physical education and in any kind of sports activity, as well as a signed solemn declaration of parents.
After the schools have scheduled their visit and the date of their visit to the Stadium has been booked, they should send by email to [email protected] the list of names of the students who will participate in the program, as well as the names of their chaperones ten (10) days before the scheduled visit.
Children should bring water and a sun hat and be aware that the consumption of soft drinks and chewing gum is prohibited inside the Stadium.
A doctor is present at the Stadium to deal with any possible emergency.
Cancellation of visit
If you wish to cancel or postpone your visit, please contact the Stadium's secretariat as soon as possible so that the space can be allocated to another school.
In case of bad weather conditions, please also contact the Stadium's secretariat in the first instance. In case your visit is postponed, you can contact the stadium again to reschedule it.
