From Vergina and Pella, the HOC and ETHNOA started teaching the Olympic Education Manual of the International Olympic Committee (OVEP)
The Hellenic Olympic Committee and the National Olympic Academy, with the support of the Olympic Solidarity Programme and with the valuable contribution of the experienced Master Trainer of the International Olympic Committee Sylvia Dalotto and the Director of NTHNOA Denise Panagopoulou, held the first training of the new Olympic Values Education Program (OVEP).
The training started from a point full of symbolism, the emblematic sites of Vergina and Pella, two places that represent priceless values.
It was held on June 5 & 6, 2024, in collaboration with the pioneering Physical Education Advisor of the P.E. The event was held in 5.5.242424, in cooperation with the pioneer teacher of Physical Education of Imathia and Pella, Mr. George Rapti, who embraced with great enthusiasm this effort, in which a total of 60 teachers of various specialties of A’/Minority Education participated.
This move is a historical milestone for the Olympic Education in Greece!
OVEP (Olympic Values Education Programme) is a modern handbook that gives us many rich ideas to enable us to improvise and create. It is a form of informal education, based on learning through experience, which enables us to find ideas that can be easily adapted in all places and with a variety of subjects. It is a tool that enables the exploration and implementation of new methodologies to cultivate the development of 21th century.
The OVEP (Olympic Values Education Programme) was launched to travel to all 206 IOC countries, not just to exist, but to become an experience and a necessity at a time when the Olympic Values are more relevant than ever.
Greece is one of the first countries to translate the renewed IOC Olympic Education Manual and the Hellenic Olympic Committee and the National Olympic Academy, as the responsible bodies for the dissemination of Olympic Education in our country, will continue the trainings throughout the country.
The participation of the teachers and their enthusiasm, as shown during the training and as reflected after decoding the evaluation, was enormous, not only because they were the «first» in the country to receive the OVEP training, but because they will be the multipliers for its implementation.
We warmly thank, once again, for her inspiring teaching, the IOC Master Trainer Silvia Dalotto, as well as all the contributors who helped in the realization of the training seminar in Vergina and Pella, Mrs.Efthymia Goti, Director of A’/Master Education P.E. Mr. Savvas Taylahidis, Director of the 1st Primary Education of Pella, Mrs. Eva Kontogoulidou of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Imathia, Mrs. Elisavet Tsigarida of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Pella, Mrs. Ms. Sitsa Lazaridou and Ms. Ekaterini Papageorgiou, Education Advisors of Kindergarten and Teachers respectively, the Education Advisors of the other Specialities and Mr. Christos Balaska, teacher of Physical Education.
