On Monday 12 June 2023, the 7th Primary School of Ano Liosia, headed by Mrs. Christina Petrou, welcomed Mr. Demosthenes Tabakos, Olympic Silver Medalist in Sydney and Olympic Gold Medalist in Athens in the sport of rings, Mrs. Véronique Bruez, French language cooperation attaché at the French Embassy in Greece, and Mrs. Ysabelle Mabire, assistant at the Educational Cooperation Department of the French Institute of Greece.
The event took place in the context of the French Language course, as the school participated, with the teachers Mrs.Mary Kovanis PE05 and Mrs.Glykeria Tzovara PE70, in the 3rd Olympic and Paralympic Week organized by the French Institute in collaboration with the Hellenic Olympic Committee and the National Olympic Academy.
The students of class E1 met online on 7/2/2023 with the Olympic champion Mr. Demosthenes Tabakos. It was an exciting experience for the students who had the opportunity to invite the Olympic champion to the school.
Following this meeting, the school welcomed its distinguished guests, giving the children the opportunity, through the presentation prepared for them by Mr.Demosthenes Tabakos, to share a common passion, sport and its values, and to raise awareness on disability issues. The event closed with the awarding of a plaque on behalf of the Parents and Guardians Association to the Greek Olympic champion.
