Olympic Week in Schools - First Modern Olympic Games: 130 years later | 25 - 29 May 2026

The 3rd Hellenic-French Olympic & Paralympic week completed today

Completed today the 3rd Greek-French Olympic & Paralympic week with the participation of the Paralympic gold medalist of Tokyo in 100 m, Thanasis Gavelas and the basketball player Angelo Tsagarakis.

«Concentration, dedication, organisation» advises Thanasis Gavelas, adding that «anything is possible». Having been a victim of discrimination himself during his school years, he encourages young people to «help their fellow human beings».

Angelo Tsagarakis spoke to the students in French and Greek and urged them to never give up, to face the difficulties and to keep the flame alive.

A big thank you to all the teachers, to all the students for the excellent questions, which they did not hesitate to ask in perfect French! All of you contributed to the success of the meetings which gave the opportunity to hear important messages with great passion and enthusiasm.

We thank our team: Ysabelle Mabire, Chrysa Voulgarakis, Danae Ioakeimidis and Denise Panagopoulou for the excellent collaboration between the Hellenic Olympic Committee, of National Olympic Academy of Greece - National Olympic Academy of Greece and the French Institute of Greece.

A successful event with the participation of 15,500 students.

Rendezvous next year for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024!
