The Children's Gallery of Greece in collaboration with the institutions: Hellenic Olympic Committee, National Olympic Academy, Organizing Committee of the International Marathon of Rhodes and in the context of the Olympic Week in Schools 2023 and the 8th International Marathon of Rhodes respectively, organize a nationwide painting competition for kindergarten, primary, secondary and high school students attending schools in Greece and abroad.

It is a competition of Good Practices that has at its core the universal values through the principles and ideals of Olympism and the sporting spirit. Throughout the centuries, the competitive spirit has been the main source of inspiration for both Greek and international art, since the beauty of sport has inspired poets, sculptors, writers and musicians. The most brilliant example of all is the Parthenon's Zophoros, conceived by Phidias to depict the procession of the Panathenaic games.

Sport and art inspire each other. Artistic values ennoble sport and enhance its cultural substance, but artistic sensibility is awakened by the beauty of movement. This interaction gives greatness to sport and athletics and enriches the arts.

Art, in the history of human civilization, appeared as a kind of language, a means of communication, expression of feelings and ideas, man's need to transform primordial fear into rhythm, to appease the divine symbols, to depict nature and things. Art was and is a liberating activity, formative and transformative.

The object of art is the beautiful, the aesthetically beautiful, the value of which changes from age to age and beauty is expressed in different ways. Works of art, apart from the aesthetic effect and the pleasure they provide, are also wonderful sources of knowledge and research of the era in which they were created and often provide direct information about the socio-cultural scene.
