The Olympic and Paralympic Week is implemented under the Erasmus+ programme «Let us all share the passion of the Games» and is organized by the French Institute of Greece, the Hellenic Olympic Committee and the National Olympic Academy (NOC) in cooperation with the French Olympic Academy.

The ERASMUS+ programme supports the mobility of Greek and French teachers and students through the creation of communication bridges between 26 school classes of the two countries, ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Η 2η The organisation of the Olympic and Paralympic Week brings together young people from Greece and Normandy to share a common passion: the sport and its values through discussions with Olympians and champions. The meetings with top Greek and French athletes will be a source of inspiration and encouragement for everyone.

The students will have the opportunity to get to know special personalities, to share the history and the values of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, raise awareness of disability issues. The French language, the official language of the Olympic Games, will be at the heart of the training programmes proposed to French language teachers in Greece.

Last year, 10 000 pupils took part and contributed with their enthusiasm to the success of the event. This week is a unique opportunity to mobilise a collective dynamic centred on Francophonie, with athletes, teachers and students from both countries as protagonists.

In this year's event, we welcome top athletes for a series of online meetings via Zoom:

  • Emilia Tsulfa, gold medalist at the 2004 Athens Olympics, sailing
  • Vanessa Morales, athlete who broke the world record for women's climbing in Kilimanjaro (Tanzania)
  • John Sevdikalis, athlete at the Paralympic Games, track and field-400m
  • Paul-Antoine de Belval, up-and-coming Olympic athlete, fencing
  • Yannis Fountoulis, silver medalist at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, water polo
  • David Smetanine, Paralympian, swimming
  • Evangelia Psarra, archery champion
  • Magalie Pottier, world motocross champion
  • Chrysoula Anagnostopoulou, discus throw
  • Polychronis Tzortzakis, cycling athlete

All athletes are distinguished for the their charitable action about which they will talk to the young students.
