The 2nd Olympic Week in Schools, which is on track for the environment and the planet, started with great success with the participation of schools from Didymoteicho and Soufli to Rhodes and the International School of Cairo.
The President of ETHNOA, Mr. George Alikakos, opened the 2nd Olympic Week, stressing the importance of Olympic Education for young people in our country and stressed that at the end of the 2nd Olympic Week there will be an electronic draw and one school from each educational region will be given the opportunity to make a free three-day trip to Ancient Olympia with all expenses covered by the HOC and ETHNOA. Afterwards, Mr. Dimitris Kereres, Director of Physical Education, gave a greeting on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs. The archaeologists of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Elis, Ms. Roula Leventouri and Mr. Kostas Antonopoulos traveled the 14.500 students who were watching us on a magical journey through time and Ms. Maria Papaioannou, Director of the Athens Olympic Museum, “traveled” the students through the Athens Olympic Museum to the 1st Modern Olympic Games, the 2004 Athens Olympics, as well as the Paralympic Games to learn the basics of their history... Then, on the occasion of the 2nd Olympic week, the students met our Olympic champions athletes Manos Zerdevas, Fani Tzeli and Polychronis Tzortzakis with whom they talked.
The Olympic Week continues in the coming days with undiminished interest from Schools all over the country.
