The new cycle of the programme started at the premises of the International Olympic Academy (IOA) in Ancient Olympia «I live the Olympic Values», a sports and educational programme of visits and activities implemented by the National Olympic Academy (NTHNOA), in cooperation with the Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC), the International Olympic Academy (IOA) and the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sport.
The students from the High Schools of Central Macedonia (6th of Veria, Kavassilon and 1st of Halastras) had the opportunity to learn about the Olympic Movement and the Olympic Games, and to participate in sports activities and experiential workshops on Olympic values.
During the program, the children met with the Olympic champion Lambros Vassilopoulos, who spoke about the sport of cycling and gave useful tips for the safe use of the bicycle.
As part of the programme, the students visited the Archaeological Museum and the Archaeological Site of Ancient Olympia, as well as the historic Stadium. In addition, they toured the Historical Archive of the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, getting to know valuable material of modern Olympic history.
At the closing ceremony, the children shared their impressions of their participation in the programme and presented theatrical performances and art creations they had prepared throughout the programme.
