In the framework of the program «I experience the Olympic values», students from the 1ο Kilkis High School, 1ο Standard Gymnasium of Thessaloniki, 2ο High School of Perea and High School of Pella, participated in sports activities, discussions and experiential workshops on the Olympic values of Respect, Friendship and Excellence at the premises of the International Olympic Academy in Ancient Olympia, aiming to inform and raise awareness about the values of the Olympic movement.
During the visit, the Olympic champions Eleftheria Ftouli (artistic swimming) and Stergios Papachristos (rowing) presented moments from their athletic career and spoke to the students about the application of the Olympic values in everyday life. After this experience, the children worked in groups where they discussed proposals and good practices for the prevention of violence in sports venues.
On the last day of the programme, a guided tour of the «Athens 2004» Olympic Games Archive took place, where the students were informed about the greatest celebration of sport that took place in our country.
The programme continues with the participation of schools from Central Macedonia.
