Aiming at the prevention of sexual violence in sport, the National Round Table Discussion was held on Saturday 21 March at the SCG - Scientific College of Greece, entitled:
«Skills Development, Knowledge Enhancement and Awareness Raising for the Prevention of Sexual Violence».
The initiative was implemented in the framework of the European programme RISE - Rise Empowered Above Sexual Violence in Sports, co-funded by Erasmus+, and aims to strengthen prevention and awareness in the sports sector. The programme was organised by AS Altis, with Rania Rootsis as coordinator, in collaboration with the president of ETHNOA, Demosthenes Tabakos, and the academic head of SCG, Ioli Panidis. The scientific coordinator for the programme was Tatiana Chalkidou, representative of the ACG.
The discussion was attended by people from the sports sector, such as athletes, coaches, teachers, administrators, sports journalists and parents of athletes. Indicatively, employees, trainers and partners of the National Olympic Academy and the Hellenic Olympic Committee, the Hellenic Scientific College of Greece, as well as administrative members of sports clubs participated.
The discussion was an opportunity for open dialogue, presentation of good practices and research results, as well as for the development of proposals and actions for the prevention of sexual violence in sport.
The RISE programme aims to develop an integrated framework of prevention policies and tools, to enhance the awareness and skills of those involved in sport, as well as to inform and empower young athletes to address and prevent sexual violence.
