Olympic Week in Schools - First Modern Olympic Games: 130 years later | 25 - 29 May 2026

The program «I experience the Olympic values» in Ancient Olympia continues successfully

In the framework of the program «I experience the Olympic values», students from the Gymnasiums of Nea Triglia (Halkidiki), Exaplatanos (Pella), 5th Gymnasium of Katerini and the Evening Gymnasium of Katerini participated in meetings and experiential activities at the premises of the International Olympic Academy in Ancient Olympia, aiming to inform and raise awareness about the values of the Olympic movement.

During the visit, the Olympic rowing champion Yannis Tsilis presented moments from his athletic career and spoke to the students about the application of the Olympic values in everyday life. Participants also had the opportunity to take part in simulated rowing movements and worked in experiential workshops where they discussed proposals and good practices for the prevention of violence in sports venues.

On the last day of the programme, a guided tour of the exhibits of the Archive of the Olympic Games «Athens 2004» took place, where the students were informed about the historical and organisational dimension of the event.

The programme continues with the aim of spreading the Olympic values and strengthening respect and teamwork in schools and sports venues.
