Olympic Week in Schools - First Modern Olympic Games: 130 years later | 25 - 29 May 2026

Stergios Papachristos and Eleftheria Ftouli: “Olympic Values and Daily Life” at the 1st Primary School of Nea Anchialos

On Thursday 19 March the Olympic champions Stergios Papachristos (rowing) and Eleftheria Ftouli (artistic swimming) visited the 1st Primary School of Nea Anchialos, as part of the educational activities of the National Olympic Academy. The aim of the visit was to bring the students in direct contact with the world of sport and to show how the principles of Olympism are applied in everyday life.

The athletes presented their sports and shared experiences from their personal career. They then discussed with the students about the Olympic ideal and its application in their daily lives. Through the discussion, the children had the opportunity to understand the difficulties and demands of sport and how effort and perseverance contribute to personal development.
