Olympic Values and Inspiration in Action: The students of Athens College at the IOA

On Thursday 26 and Friday 27 March, students of Athens College visited the facilities of the International Olympic Academy, where they had the opportunity to meet Olympic champions and distinguished athletes representing the National Olympic Academy.

In the framework of the educational and sporting action on the Olympic values, 170 students met the athletes of ETHNOA: Yannis Tsilis (rowing), Stergios Papachristos (rowing), Ioanna Bouzios (softball), Eleftheria Ftouli (artistic swimming), Kallinikos Kreanga (table tennis), Christina Zachariadou (tennis), Maria Christoforidis (weightlifting), Penelope Nika (Laser Run), Anna Charalambidou (water polo).

The aim of the programme was to bring children in contact with more sports, to be inspired by the athletes' paths and personal stories and to give them the opportunity to experience the values of sport through sporting activities.

During the action, the students were informed about the history of the Olympic Games, their revival and the Olympic symbols.

The experience was completed with a visit to the Ancient Stadium and the Museum of the History of the Olympic Games of Antiquity, offering the students a complete picture of the Olympic heritage.
