Olympic Week in Schools - First Modern Olympic Games: 130 years later | 25 - 29 May 2026

The Paralympian Yannis Kostakis at the 4th Primary School of Markopoulo

Representing the National Olympic Academy, the Paralympic swimming champion Yannis Kostakis visited the 4th Primary School of Markopoulo, in order to talk about sport, its benefits, as well as his own course in athletics.

The students of the school welcomed him enthusiastically and listened to his story, through which he described how sport helped him to overcome difficulties and challenges of everyday life. He stressed the importance of willpower, perseverance and small daily steps leading to big goals.

Through sports activities and dialogue, the young students learned about the values of Olympism and understood the importance of acceptance and inclusion.
