Olympic Week in Schools - First Modern Olympic Games: 130 years later | 25 - 29 May 2026

The Olympic champion Yannis Tsilis at the Primary School of Agios Markos Corfu

On Wednesday 29 April 2026, the Olympic rowing champion Yannis Tsilis, representing the National Olympic Academy of Greece (NOCA), visited the Agios Markos Primary School of Corfu, as part of an educational and experiential action for students.

During the visit, the students had the opportunity to talk with him and ask questions about the path of a high-level athlete, the demands of the championship and the difficulties that accompany the competitive path. The discussion developed with the active participation of the children, who had prepared questions about sport, the Olympic Games and the values of consistency, effort and perseverance.

A special moment of the action was the presentation of the Olympic torch, which the students observed closely, knowing its symbolic role in the Olympic Movement. A simulated torch relay was then held, with the participation of all the students, in a context of cooperation and participation.
