The 49th Primary School of Patras and the Greek Primary School of Bucharest «Athena» visited the Panathinaiko Stadium, as part of their participation in the educational programme «I love sports - Kids’ Sports».
The students had the opportunity to learn about the rich history of the Stadium through an organized tour of the stadium's premises, and then participated in athletics events. The activities were coordinated and supported by the Olympic champion Nikos Skiathitis (rowing) and the distinguished athletes Sophia Simantiri (volleyball). Christina Zachariadou (tennis) and Alexandros Yakupovich (tennis), who framed the programme.
The enthusiasm of the children was great throughout the whole action. At the end of the sports activities, the athletes presented the students with commemorative medals, participation certificates and the book ’How well do you know the Olympic Games?«, dedicated to the history and spirit of the Olympic Games.
