On Monday 25 May, Olympic champions and distinguished athletes visited the Hellenic Education Schools «Hellenic Education», in the framework of an educational action for sport and the values of Olympism.
Among them were the Olympic Champion in Rowing Nikos Skiathitis, the Olympic Champion in Handball George Chalkidis, the Olympic Champion in Softball Ioanna Bouziou, the Softball Champion and member of the National Team Georgia Leveta, as well as the European Champion in Tennis and three times participant in the Olympic Games Christina Zachariadou.
The students had the opportunity to hear about the athletes' careers and experiences, to get to know the sports they represent and to discuss with them the demands, challenges and values of sport. Through the dialogue, they came into contact with the values of Olympism, respect, excellence and friendship, while being inspired by the athletes' example, effort and excellence.
Afterwards, the students of the 4th and 5th grades participated in sports activities with the athletes, trying their sports in practice and learning the basics and techniques of each sport through an experiential and interactive experience.
The action was completed with enthusiasm by the students, who had the opportunity to come into direct contact with personalities of Greek sport and gain valuable messages about the importance of effort, consistency and participation.
It was a special experience for everyone, which highlighted the power of sport as a source of knowledge and inspiration.
