Olympic Week in Schools - First Modern Olympic Games: 130 years later | 25 - 29 May 2026

The National Olympic Committee at the 3rd Municipal School of Kalamaria, Thessaloniki

The Olympic basketball champion, Polly Sarregou, visited the 3rd Primary School of Kalamaria in Thessaloniki on 19/11/2024.

He discussed with the students of the 5th & 6th grade about the benefits of sport in our lives, as apart from the physical-physical dimension, sport teaches discipline, teamwork, respect for opponents, loyalty and justice, basic principles and values of Olympism.

 «Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that few things can. It speaks to young people in a language they understand. Sport can create hope where once there was only despair. It is more powerful than governments in removing racial discrimination. It defies all forms of discrimination.»
