On Thursday 22 May 2024, the Olympic champion of Softball Ioanna Bouziou visited the 1st Special Primary School of Keratsini. She spoke to the children about the Olympic Games, their history, symbols and values. The young students, who welcomed her with paper torches and constructions, learned about the torch relay process and had the opportunity to raise the Olympic torch in Tokyo in 2020. They learned how softball is played, put on their equipment, and made their own attempts with the bat. They were inspired by the Olympic motto “Citius, Altius, Fortius” - “Faster, Higher, Stronger”. Joy was combined with fun, and knowledge with play. The students and teachers of the school warmly thanked the athlete, as they confessed that she carried them away with her enthusiasm for sport, and passed on the Olympic spirit to them. They expressed the hope that the appointment will be renewed in September with new sporting activities.
