The students of the 9th Primary School of Ano Liosia had the pleasure of welcoming two special guests: the Olympic handball champion George Chalkidis and the volleyball champion Sofia Simantiri, on the occasion of the 12th Panhellenic School Sports Day.
George Chalkidis spoke about his career in sports, referring to important milestones, such as his participation in the Athens Olympics and the World Championships in Tunisia. Similarly, Sophia Simantiri shared moments from her journey in volleyball and beach volleyball, in Greece and abroad.
The children got to know the two sports better, participated in activities and asked questions, showing real interest.
Most importantly, however, was the message that the athletes themselves conveyed: that what sport really teaches is that the values of excellence, friendship and respect do not just stay on the field, they are to be applied in everyday life, in our relationships and in our choices.
