On Friday, November 7, 2025, the National Olympic Academy (NOCA) held a sports - social action at the Rehabilitation Centre for Drug Addicts of Prisoners in Eleonas, highlighting the dimension of sport as a space of cooperation and human communication.
The event included a friendly volleyball match, with teams consisting of distinguished athletes and residents of the Centre.
The action was coordinated by Dr. Ioli Panidi (volleyball coach and academic head of SCG) and Olympian and European Beach Volleyball Champion Vicky Arvanitis.
The postgraduate students and athletes Dimitris Manolitzakis, Grigoris Tsumeleas (athletics) and Christy Lipo (football), as well as the Artistic Swimming Champion Iphinoi Davveta participated.
Present were the President of the National Olympic Academy Mr. Demosthenes Tabakos and Mr. Evangelos Kakossaeos, member of the Hellenic Paralympic Committee and public relations officer of the National Sports Federation for People with Disabilities.
This initiative was the starting point for a series of sporting activities that will be implemented throughout the academic year, aiming to strengthen social cohesion and active participation, using sport as a means of communication, cooperation and personal development.
The National Olympic Academy would like to thank Mr.Yannis Tsapalis, Director of the Centre, and his colleagues for their cooperation, as well as Physical Education teacher Demetra Yovani for her contribution to the organization of the event.
