Olympic Week in Schools - First Modern Olympic Games: 130 years later | 25 - 29 May 2026

Sports Action at the Panathinaiko Stadium in the framework of the Armed Forces Day celebration in cooperation with ETHNOA

In the framework of the celebration of the Armed Forces Day, the Secretariat of the Supreme Council of Armed Forces Sports (ASAED), in cooperation with the Hellenic Olympic Committee (H.O.E.) and the National Olympic Academy (N.O.A.), on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 November 2025, organized at the Panathenaic Stadium experiential - interactive activities for children aged 7 to 13 years old, aiming to promote the Olympic values, to introduce children to sport and to strengthen the links of the Armed Forces with society.

The programme of sporting activities included a tour of the Stadium and the Museum of the Olympic Games of the Panathinaikos Stadium. The young participants were informed and learned about the Olympic sports with the participation and guidance of Olympic champions, World Champions and distinguished athletes of the HOC - NOCA, the Armed Forces, as well as students of the Military Schools based in Athens. The children and their parents had the opportunity to participate in many stations with Olympic sports and to talk to champions who have honoured the national emblem with their sporting successes.

The young participants were given commemorative participation diplomas, badges and T-shirts with the emblems of the Hellenic Air Force and the Hellenic National Defence Force.

Archbishop John of Mozambique and Zambia, who is doing important work for the promotion of Olympic values, was also present at the event and has undertaken the establishment of the first Olympic Museum in Africa.

Present were the Director of ASAED and marathon runner Spyridon Andriopoulos and the Olympic champion in Gymnastics and president of the National Gymnastics Federation. Demosthenes Tabakos.
