The President of the National Olympic Academy George Alikakos, on the occasion of the positive response from the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, for the implementation of the educational sports programme «Olympic Education - Olympic Week in Schools», said the following:
«It is a great pleasure and responsibility of the National Olympic Academy (NOC), the competent Committee for Olympic Education in Greece, to approve the implementation of the programme ’Olympic Education - Olympic Week in Schools«.
We thank from the bottom of our hearts for this decision, the Minister of Education Mrs.Kerameos, the Deputy Minister of Education Mrs.Zacharaki as well as the plenum of the Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC) with its President Mr.Kapralos who is always on our side.
The NOC is committed to proceed with all the necessary actions so that all the children of Greece become partakers of the history and the greatness of the Olympic Games. Why Greece is the first to enter the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, why the Greek National Anthem is always played at the opening and closing ceremonies, why the Greek flag flies throughout the Games and why the Olympic Anthem is a Greek creation.
We thank everyone for the trust they have placed in us and we will make sure we live up to it.»
