EEA, ETHNOA and A.G. Foundation Leventis: Sports action at the Panathinaiko Stadium with the Olympic Preparation Scholarship Programme and the SOS Children's Villages

In the framework of the cooperation of the A. G. Leventis Foundation with the Hellenic Olympic Committee for the Olympic Preparation Scholarship Programme, an action took place on Saturday 9 May 2026 at the Kallimarmaro with the participation of children from the SOS Children's Villages, in the presence of the President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Isidoros Kouvelos.

The National Olympic Academy, together with the scholarship athletes of the Programme, to which the HOC contributes again this year, welcomed 40 children aged 11 to 14 years old, who participated in sports activities and experiential games at the Stadium. The activity was designed to introduce children to the values of sport and Olympism through participation, cooperation and teamwork.

During the event, children had the opportunity to interact with the scholar athletes, participate in competitive and recreational activities and learn about different sports in a historical sporting environment.

This was followed by a symbolic awarding of the scholarship athletes by the children, with the presentation of honorary plaques, as well as the awarding and exchange of souvenirs with the children who participated in the activities by the distinguished athletes.

The National Olympic Academy was represented by Olympic champions and distinguished athletes: Nikos Skiathitis (rowing), Maria Christoforidis (weightlifting), Christina Zachariadou (tennis), Kallinikos Kreanga (table tennis), Christina Kaltsa (rhythmic gymnastics), Sofia Simantiri (volleyball), Alexandros Yakupovich (tennis) and Anna Charalambidou (water polo).
