Representing the National Olympic Academy (NOC), the Olympic champions Eleftheria Ftouli (artistic swimming) and Stergios Papachristou (rowing) visited the 5th and 11th Primary School of Nea Ionia in Volos.
During the visit, they presented basic elements of their sports and gave the children an insight into the preparation and daily training, through examples and personal experiences.
This was followed by a dialogue with the students, who asked many questions. Through the discussion and personal examples of perseverance and cooperation, it was highlighted that victory is only valuable when it is accompanied by ethics and respect for the opponent. Students gained meaningful messages about the role of sport in everyday life, such as health care, discipline and teamwork, and that consistent effort and respect can lead to great things, both in sport and in life in general.
