The 1st internal «Friendship Games» of the Sailing Spot Academy of the Piraeus Sailing Club took place on December 20 and 21 at the Club's premises, in co-organization with the National Olympic Academy (NOC) of the Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC).
The games gave the young athletes the opportunity to participate in an organized competitive process, with emphasis on both athletic effort and the Olympic Values of friendship, excellence and respect, through cooperation and healthy competition.
In the framework of the event, the athletes were awarded by distinguished partners of the National Olympic Committee: the athletes Anna Charalambidou (water polo), Maria Christoforidou (weightlifting), Iphinoi Davveta (artistic swimming) and the five-time Olympian of table tennis, Kallinikos Kreangas OLY.
The President of the Piraeus Sailing Club, Yannis Papadimitriou, said:
«The 1st internal “Friendship Games” of the Sailing Spot Academy were a special celebration of sport and the Olympic Values. The joy, enthusiasm and ethos shown by our children confirm that we are on the right track. I warmly congratulate the athletes, the coaches and all those who contributed to the excellent organization, and especially the National Olympic Academy for the excellent cooperation».
The Head of the Sailing Spot Academy and Olympic Bronze Medalist, Virginia Kravarioti OLY, as well as the coaches Stavroula Moraiti, Dimitra Papachristou and George Kanellatos, congratulated all the athletes for their participation, their racing effort and their continuous progress.
