The students of the 5th High School of Veria participated in the educational program «I LIVE THE OLYMPIC VALUES» from December 4 to 6, at the premises of the International Olympic Academy in Ancient Olympia.
During the programme, they took part in sports events and experiential workshops, through which they learned in practice the basic values of Olympism, such as respect, cooperation, fair play and self-improvement.
As part of the activities, they talked with the Olympic cycling champion Lambros Vassilopoulos, who shared with them his sporting experiences and developed issues related to the proper use of the bicycle, as well as road safety issues, underlining the importance of a responsible attitude both in sport and in everyday life.
The students were guided to the Historical Archive of the ATHENS 2004 Olympic Games, where they learned about important aspects of modern Olympic history.
The educational visit was completed with a tour of the Archaeological Museum of Olympia and the adjacent archaeological site, giving the students the opportunity to get in touch with the ancient history of the place and the spirit of the Olympic Games.
Participation in the programme combined knowledge, sport and culture.
