At the headquarters of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, a meeting was held between the President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Demosthenes Tabakos, the Vice President of the HOC Michalis Muroutsos and the member of the HOC Konstantinos Thanos, and the psychiatrist, child psychologist and author Nikos Sideris. The meeting took place in the context of the briefing of Olympic medallists and distinguished athletes who participate as physical education teachers in the programmes of the National Olympic Committee.
The presentation by Mr. Nikos Sideris focused on violence in adolescents and the need to deconstruct the seduction it exerts on young souls. During the presentation, established myths surrounding the phenomenon were debunked and the importance of creating frameworks with rules and mutual respect was highlighted. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of sport and athletes as role models, and the power of sport to act as a tool for targeted interventions that actively support this deconstruction.
In this context, the prospect of cooperation between ETHNOA and Mr. Sideris was discussed, with the aim of developing interventions to deconstruct the allure of violence and the mental and social empowerment of young people.
