Olympic champion Polly Saregou visited and talked to the students of the 1st Gymnasium of Kalamaria about the concepts that go beyond the boundaries of the playing field: the Olympic values and ideals, the importance of sport in our lives, as well as stress management - both in sport and in the upcoming school exams.
He spoke with the students about the respect, excellence and friendship- values that are not only valid in the Olympic Games, but are the foundation of a healthy society. Sport cultivates discipline, perseverance and cooperation, elements that are valuable not only for athletes, but also for every young person.
At the same time, it opened a frank discussion on the stress, which is a common experience - whether it is a critical race or a student exam. They looked for practical ways of management such as: proper preparation, breathing, time management, but also support from friends, family and teachers.
The students' response was warm, active and thought-provoking. It is encouraging to see the younger generation interested not only in personal success, but also in values that unite us.
This meeting was a small inspiration - as well as a great honour to share with the students these important messages.
