Η National Olympic Academy of Greece (N.O.O.A.), participated in the programme Erasmus+ “Promoting value education through sports-creating joint actions” organised by Olympic Committee of Lithuania, with the support of the Olympic Solidarity.
Representatives from (17) seventeen countries participated in the programme: Azerbaijan, Albania, Albania, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Montenegro, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Slovenia, Turkey, United Kingdom and Turkey. The NATIONrepresented in the program, the Education Advisor PE11-Physical Education of Drama, Xanthi and Rodopi, Mr. Nikolaos Kameas and the Education Advisor PE11-Physical Education of Serres and Kilkis, Mrs. Catherine Coopani, who also participated in the training of the Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP), held by the Hellenic Olympic Committee and the National Olympic Academy in September. Mr. Kameas and Ms. Koupani will ensure the best possible dissemination of the (OVEP) in their Region.
The project enabled participants to enhance their knowledge and skills on the role of sport and physical activity in education.
The presentations and experiential workshops focused on the methodologies of values education, the principles of non-formal education, the development of 21st century skills through Olympic education and the understanding of the psychological and sociological characteristics of children and young people in modern society.
During the training, participants worked in groups, participated in discussions and exchange of ideas, tried exercises/activities from the Olympic Values Education Programme (O.V.E.P) of the International Olympic Committee and created and implemented experiential workshops for their colleagues. The participants further developed their knowledge and skills, exchanged valuable experiences and good practices in order to enhance the implementation of programmes that promote Olympic values in education and in particular the Olympic Values Education Programme.
We thank the excellent hosts of the Lithuanian Olympic Committee, Kasparas Šileikis and Paulius Martinkėnas, and the trainers, Nerijus Miginis and Donatas Petkauskas, who shared their knowledge and rich experience with passion, clarity and enthusiasm with all participants.
