Great international distinction for the National Olympic Academy!

On 27 September 2024 in Ancient Olympia, ETHNOA received the first Olympic Education Award “EOA Flame Awards” for the highly successful educational programme «The Olympic Week on the road to Paris 2024», in the framework of the 6th Congress of the European Olympic Academies.

The award was presented by Professor and President of the European Olympic Academies Prof. Manfred Laemmer to the Secretary General Dora Pallis, Treasurer Stavros Perros and member Maria Papaioannou together with the Director of the National Olympic Academy (ETHNOA) Denise Panagopoulou.

The Olympic Education Award “EOA Flame Awards” was dedicated by ETHNOA to its President George Alikakos, for his passion, enthusiasm and ability, a true testament to the Olympic values.

The National Olympic Academy is a pioneering and particularly active Olympic Academy. Receiving this award is the culmination of the significant effort made in recent years in the Olympic Education programmes and not only in our country.

The European Olympic Academies Flame Awards Competition is an annual award in recognition of the effort and work of the European National Olympic Academies and the promotion of their good practices and results.
In addition, the competition is a source of inspiration and promotion of a philosophy of life in line with the Olympic values and ideals.

At the same ceremony the French Olympic Academy was awarded for the Olympic Heritage programme “The Great Collection of Sports Archives” (Grande Collecte des Archives du Sport) and the German Olympic Academy for the Olympic Education programme “Olympia is calling Join in!” (“Olympia is calling: Join in!”) - Paris 2024 Edition .
