Olympic Week in Schools - First Modern Olympic Games: 130 years later | 25 - 29 May 2026

Schools of the Greek community in Ancient Olympia

The Schools of the Greek Community from Istanbul, Imbros, Zappeion, Zographio and the Great School of the Genus along with the Schools of the Greek Communities from Brazil and Tanzania, participated in the program ”Experiencing the Olympic Values” in Ancient Olympia from 8 to 13 July 2024.

The Olympic rowing champions, Nikos Skiathitis and Giannis Tsilis presented their sport and had an interesting conversation with the students, “passing on” important messages about both sport and their lives.

During the three days that followed, the students, through sports activities and interactive workshops, experienced the principles of Olympism, which are the building blocks that improve people's relationships, especially nowadays. The students, together with their teachers, visited the Archaeological Site and the Museum of Ancient Olympia as well as the Historical Archive of the ATHENS 2004 Olympic Games and felt the greatness of Greece and the value of their origin.

The visit of the Schools to our country is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The educational programme “I live the Olympic Values”, is implemented by the National Olympic Academy in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Sport, the International Olympic Academy, the Hellenic Olympic Committee and the National Olympic Academy.
