The programme ”Olympic Education-4" was successfully completed in the premises of Ancient Olympia from 31 May to 2 June 2024.η Olympic Week in Schools” by the Hellenic Olympic Committee and the National Olympic Academy in which 12 primary and secondary schools, 1 School of Cyprus, 1 School of the Greek Community from Africa and 1 School of the Greek Community from Germany, participated after a draw.
The theme of the Olympic Week 2024 was «The Olympic Week on the road to Paris 2024».
In the 4th Olympic Week 5.376 schools with 234.071 thousand students from all over Greece, Cyprus and the Greek Community participated, creating a new record.
The President of the National Olympic Academy Mr. George Alikakos stressed that this year's participation in the «Olympic Education- 4η Olympic Week in Schools», surpassed all previous records and really set a record and thanked all the teachers and students who embraced the programme, giving them a date for next year.
15 schools were drawn and participated in the events of Ancient Olympia in the multilevel educational, environmental, cultural, cultural, sporting and entertaining program that the Hellenic Olympic Committee and the National Olympic Academy had prepared are the following:
(one from each Regional Directorate of Greece, 1 School from Cyprus and 2 Schools from the Greek Diaspora -1 from Europe and 1 from Africa).

The 4th Olympic Week took place from 22 to 26 April 2024.
In Ancient Olympia, the students and their chaperones who participated were thrilled.
The children met Olympic champions, World and European champions who consistently serve the ”Fair Play and the Olympic Ideals", had the opportunity to be introduced to shooting, handball, lacerations, rowing, weightlifting, track and field events and the innovative game Run & Out.
At the same time, they were informed by Dr. Pella Petraki-Kavvadia about the contribution of exercise in improving health, all students received a health card as a guide for a healthy lifestyle and good health habits, which is very important to acquire good habits and a healthy lifestyle.
They also participated in many interactive games and working groups, with scenarios of managing defeat from different perspectives, bullying and became for a while little journalists, presenting their own radio show, having done a «virtual» interview with an Olympic / Paralympic champion, which gave them full joy and pleasure and they said goodbye to Ancient Olympia excited!
The educational visit ended with a visit to the environmental centre of Koumani followed by an environmental activity in the beautiful forest of Fologi.
We owe many thanks to Mr. Harry Kavvadias, who with his kind offer made sure that the great journey of the Loumbubashi Primary School of the DR Congo, which he himself had attended as a child, and to Mrs. Pella Petraki-Kavvadias, a lifestyle doctor, for her excellent presentation on the contribution of exercise to improving health.
Special thanks to all the Olympians and distinguished athletes, (Victor Mitrou, Giorgos Tzelilis weightlifting, Eleftheria Ftouli, artistic swimming, Stergios Papachristos rowing, Anna Charalambidi, water polo, Angelos Lemanis sailing, Penelope Nika, laser running, Christina Kalta rhythmic gymnastics, Christina Hachariadou tennis, Lefteris Kovanis handball, who made this three-day event even more beautiful for all the students, inspiring them and giving them the opportunity to feel the aura and magic of this place and the partner of ETHNOA Mr. Spyros Avgoustis for his valuable contribution to the success of the programme.
Finally, we would like to thank Mr Panagiotis Lattas and Mr Michalis Mertziannidis for their excellent cooperation and their contribution to the success of the project.
We were particularly surprised by the 31ο Primary School of Peristeri, which sang the Anthem of NATION, for the first time.
