We had the pleasure to visit the 4th Primary School of Kalamaria in Thessaloniki and talk to the students about one of the most important issues that concern sport today: racism on the pitch and the future of sport.
Using examples from the world of sport, we discussed how diversity can unite us, rather than divide us.
We highlighted the value of sport as a means of promoting peace, friendship and respect and excellence, key principles embodied in the Olympic values. The students actively participated, shared their thoughts and understood the power of «fair play» not only on the fields, but also in life.
Sport has the unique ability to shape character and inspire a non-discriminatory future where everyone has equal opportunities to participate and excel. It is our duty to pass on these messages to children, the future leaders of sport and our society.
