Olympic Week in Schools - First Modern Olympic Games: 130 years later | 25 - 29 May 2026

3rd OLYMPIC WEEK - EDUCATIONAL VISIT TO ANCIENT OLYMPIA 2023

The three-day educational trip of thirteen (13) schools from Greece and one (1) school from Cyprus to the facilities of the International Olympic Academy in Ancient Olympia, ended with many sporting, environmental and cultural events. These fourteen (14) schools, which participated (along with 3,237 others) in the 3from Olympic Week, were drawn to visit Ancient Olympia (with free transport, accommodation and food) from 2 to 4 June 2023 by the HOC and ETHNOA.

During their stay, the children met Olympic champions and distinguished athletes, chatted with them and participated in sports activities.

They also created the “green medal”, one side of which reflected Olympic sports and values while the other side conveyed environmental messages. The students' artistic creations were enjoyed by young and old alike when they were displayed by their teachers outside against the backdrop of the facility's stadium.

The children enjoyed the presentation of the birth of the International Fair Play Passport, a passport that, as it was said, crosses national borders as it touches the hearts of all people. The choreography designed for the passport, presented by the team of Artemis Ignatiou, the inspirational choreographer of the four previous Olympic Flame touching ceremonies, was captivating.

Apart from these activities that took place within the IOA's facilities, the schools visited the Stadium of Ancient Olympia, the adjacent archaeological site and Museum and the forest of Fologis, carrying out relevant environmental activities.

Our events were strongly supported by Total Energies and Allianz as, thanks to them, this special educational trip was supported.

In particular, Ms Maria Argyropoulou, representative of Total Energies (National Sponsor of the International Fair Play Passport), presented to the students interesting facts about sustainability and energy forms and coordinated an interesting interactive game related to the theoretical part. This involved the children divided into groups, so that each group included pupils from different schools. At the end, the children received small symbolic gifts.

It should be noted that Allianz, which supports the International Fair Play Passport internationally, has once again provided insurance coverage for all participants in this educational three-day event.

Finally, we would like to thank all the Olympic champions and distinguished athletes, Victor Mitrou, George Tzelilis, George Chalkidis, Nikos Skiathitis, Yannis Tsilis, Angelos Lemanis, Anna Charalambidis, Christina Kaltsa and Antonis Platis, who support with great love and passion the actions and educational programmes of the HOC and ETHNOA and especially this special three-day event in Ancient Olympia.
