The first Training Workshop, on «Sport - Health - Management: A Modern Approach to Coaching, Prevention & Leadership in Gymnastics», was held on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the premises of the educational institution, and was co-organized by the Hellenic Gymnastics Federation and the Department of Sports Science - Coaching of the New York College Educational Group.
The event honored Demosthenes Tabakos, President of the National Olympic Academy and two-time Olympic champion in gymnastics.
In his address he stressed that «capacity, adaptability and flexibility are the three key characteristics of a successful organisation. The Gymnastics Federation has competent staff who serve the field with soul and knowledge, adapt to the needs and changes of the present and have the flexibility to change methods whenever necessary, while keeping their vision stable».
The Workshop was accompanied by distinguished scientists and expert speakers, aiming to educate the fitness family. One of the key speakers was Dr. Odysseas Paxinos, member of the Board of Directors of ETHNOA, physician of the National Football Team, President of the Medical Committee of the European Gymnastics Federation, head physician of the Greek Olympic Delegation to Paris (2024) and Director of the National Centre for Sports Research.
Dr. Paxinos presented the topic «Sports Injuries in Gymnastics - What the coach needs to know».
The purpose of the workshop was to upgrade the expertise of all those who have positions of responsibility in the competitive preparation of athletes, as well as to enhance the development of gymnastics sports.
