The Regional Governor of Crete Stavros Arnaoutakis visited today a delegation of the National Olympic Academy of Greece (ETHNOA) as part of the presence he had in schools in Crete where educational activities of Olympic education with the support of the Region of Crete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting was attended by the Director of ETHNOA, Denise Panagopoulou, the World Open Water Champion Kelly Arauzou, Dr. Pella Petraki-Kavvadia, Lifestyle Doctor, the Executive Councillor for Education and Lifelong Learning, Eleni Maraki-Beladaki, who was responsible for the implementation of the programme and the Executive Councillor for International Relations, George Alexakis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, the importance of Olympic Education as a tool for shaping tomorrow's citizens was discussed and the support of the Region to initiatives that promote education, sport and health of children and young people of Crete was confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this context, the two-day educational action \u201cThe Olympic values as an attitude to life and health\u201d, which was organized by the National Olympic Academy of Greece (ETHNOA) in cooperation with the Region of Crete and the Education and Lifelong Learning Sector of the Region of Crete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim of the action was to promote the Olympic values and to raise awareness among students on issues related to the adoption of a healthy lifestyle through sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The students of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Primary Schools of Tympaki, the Primary School of Agioi Deca, the 29th and 55th Kindergartens of Heraklion, as well as the 26th and 40th Primary Schools of Heraklion had the opportunity to learn about the principles of the Olympic movement, such as \u00abfair play\u00bb, mutual respect, self-improvement and teamwork, as well as to understand the importance of these values in everyday life and in the formation of a healthy and balanced personality. Through hands-on activities, students actively participated in the discussion on the importance of physical activity and a balanced diet as key factors in maintaining health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, Eleni Maraki-Beladaki said: \u00abThe Region of Crete supports every action that promotes education, sport and the cultivation of healthy lifestyles. The Olympic values are fundamental principles that can shape not only good athletes, but also responsible and aware citizens. We are very happy to host this important initiative in Crete and we thank ETHNOA for its cooperation and contribution to the dissemination of the Olympic ideas to the young generation\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The success of the action confirms the ongoing commitment of the Region of Crete to support programmes that enhance the knowledge, awareness and development of students, promoting values that contribute to building a healthier and more active society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
