In the context of the celebration of the World Day of Persons with Disabilities, the National Organization for the Disabled and the Olympic basketball champion Polly Saregou visited the 1st Standard High School of Thessaloniki in order to raise awareness among students and teachers about the rights, challenges and opportunities of people with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visit included a video presentation, a speech and a discussion on the barriers that people with disabilities face in their daily lives, as well as ways of action to address them, such as education, accessibility and inclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The students understood the importance of inclusion and acceptance, and the power of every person, regardless of their abilities or limitations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, the successes of athletes with disabilities in Paralympic Games were highlighted, focusing on their success and achievements, emphasizing that disability is not a barrier, but a different reality that calls us to be more inclusive and empathetic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We all have a responsibility to recognise that diversity is not a weakness. We can all contribute to the removal of prejudice and the creation of a fairer and more welcoming world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Through the core values that Olympism stands for - respect, friendship and excellence - we create a society where diversity becomes a strength and all people can live with dignity, equality and respect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
