A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Education and Sports and the IOA for the implementation of educational visits to the IOA's facilities in Ancient Olympia, in cooperation with ETHNOA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Memorandum was signed by Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Giannis Vroutsis and Isidoros Kouvelos. Present were the Secretary General of Sports George Mavrotas, the President of ETHNOA George Alikakos, the Secretary General of ETHNOA Dora Pallis, the Olympic Champion of Gymnastics Ioannis Melissanidis, the Dean of the IOA and member of ETHNOA Kostas Georgiadis, IOA advisor Dionysis Gangas, IOA Director Makis Asimakopoulos, advisor to the Minister of Sport Maria Polyzou, Director of the IOA Denise Panagopoulou and Director of Physical Education Dimitris Kereres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The educational programme is addressed to primary and secondary school students all over the country and will bring young people closer to the Olympic values of respect, excellence, friendship, fair play and peace as well as sports integrity and positive sports behaviour in the place where the Olympic Games were born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the selection of the schools, there will be visits to Ancient Olympia. There specialized guides will take all participants and will guide them to the statue of the founder of the Olympic Games Pierre de Coubertin where his heart is kept, visit the Archaeological Museum of Ancient Olympia and all other sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They will learn why Greece is leading the way in the summer and winter Olympics. They will learn that the Greek flag flies throughout the games, about the Greek Olympic Anthem and much more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
