With the participation of 3.251 schools\/departments and 129.752 thousands of students from all over Greece, Cyprus and the Diaspora, the 3rd Olympic Week in Schools was successfully completed!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The completion of the 3rd Olympic Week in Schools was welcomed by the President of the National Olympic Academy Mr. George Alikakos who closed the events by thanking all the teachers and students who embraced the programme, giving them an appointment for next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The theme of the Olympic Week 2023 was \u00abKnowing Olympic sports - learning about sustainability and healthy living\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The students made a beautiful online journey through time and the history of the Olympic Games, met great Greek athletes, toured the Museum of the History of the Olympic Games of Antiquity, the Olympic Museum of Lausanne and the Olympic Museum of Athens. The children celebrated and discovered the Olympic Values, friendship, respect, excellence and their connection to sustainability especially in the field of their relationships with other people and everything that surrounds them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hellenic Olympic Committee and the National Olympic Academy warmly thank all the distinguished Greek Olympic athletes who supported the 3rd Olympic Week, inspiring the students, giving them the opportunity to talk with them and get to know their sports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The athletes participated: Evangelia Platanioti (Synchronized Swimming), Nikos Mavromatis (Shooting), Christos Vollikakis (Cycling), Penelope Nika (Laser Run), Spyros Gianniotis (Marathon Swimming), Kostas Filippidis (Pole Vault), Evangelia Psariotis (Archery), Kristi Anagnostopoulou (Discus), Anna Duntounaki (Swimming), Alexandros-Ioannis Giniis (Alpine Skiing), Athanasia Lyouni (Racing Climbing), Konstantinos Gennidounias (Water Polo), Tatiana Gushin (High Altitude) and Maria Karagiannopoulou (Judo).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We would also like to thank in particular for the support and the excellent presentations, the Head of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Ilia, Mrs. Kostas Antonopoulos, the teachers of the Olympic Museum of Lausanne, Ms. Julie Thum and Evelyn Pfeifer, the Director of the Olympic Museum of Athens, Ms. Maria Papaioannou and the educational programs associates Ms. Elena Politi and Ms. Elina Pehlivanidis, the President of the Institute Group for the World Environmental Alliance 2004+ Mr. George Kazantzopoulos, Dr. Anna Papageorgiou Clinical Dietitian - Nutritionist and Professor of Physical Education, PhD at the Medical School of Athens and of course our wonderful artist Mrs. Ioanna Tsakhtsirli and the Children's Gallery of Greece who inspired the children to create wonderful works, unleashing their talent...<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We would like to thank the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, the Department of Physical Education and its Head Mr. Dimitris Kerere, the Cyprus Olympic Academy, its President Mr. Georgios Chrysostomou and the Dean of the Academy Ms. Klea Papaellina and the supervisors of the programme Ms. Xenia Argeitaki and Mr. Kostas Georgiades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, we would like to thank Mr. Konstantinos Tsigaras for his patience and his significant support in the success of the 3rd Olympic Week in Schools as well as the working team, Ms. Christina Kalta, Ms. Maria Tsouris and Mr. Spyros Augustis who actively supported this effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
