The 33rd Session of the National Olympic Academy of Cyprus (NOCA) was held on Saturday, December 10, at the Olympic Hall in the OPAP \u00abEf Agonizestai\u00bb Hall, with a high level of speeches and substantial participation of the participants. The Session was dedicated to the former President of the COE and first Dean of the EOAK, Dinos Michaelides, and was dedicated to the topic \u00abOlympic Standards and the Social Role of Sport in Modern Society\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the opening ceremony, greetings were given by the President of the COE and President of the HOCC Georgios Chrysostomou, the Advisor to the President of the Republic on sports issues Phoebus Zachariadis, the President of the National Olympic Academy of Greece (NTHA) George Aliakakos, and the Vice President of the COA Kostakis Koukkoulis. The delegates were welcomed by the Dean of the EOCA, Klea Papaellina. The opening of the session was delivered by the Minister of State for National Economy and Sports, Mr Prodromos Prodromou.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Important announcement by George Alikakos<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In his address, the President of ETHNOA, George Alikakos, referred to the programme of the Hellenic Olympic Education, which was re-launched in 2021 with the participation of 3000 schools and more than 100,000 students from all over Greece. Mr. Alikakos noted that ETHNOA proposes that, from 2023 onwards, Cyprus' schools participate in this five-day online educational process. In addition, one school from Cyprus, which will be selected by the Cyprus Ministry of Education, will participate with 13 other schools from all regions of Greece in an educational programme of ETHNOA that takes place every year in Ancient Olympia, which culminates the aforementioned effort of the Educational Process. This proposal was welcomed by the President of the COE George Chrysostomou and all the participants of the EOC Session, and welcomed by the Minister of Education, Sports and Youth Prodromos Prodromou.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The opening ceremony was attended by, among others, the General Secretary of the CTO Andreas Georgiou and the Member of the Executive Council of the CTO Odysseas Patsalidis, the Honorary President of the CTO Kiki Lazaridis, and the President of the Women and Sport Committee of the CTO Ioanna Demetriou. The Embassy of Greece was represented by Mr. Spyros Ratzikas (Head of Department A \/ Cultural Affairs), the Members of the Board of Directors were also present. of the COA Sotiris Adamou, Kalli Hatzijiosif, and Elena Papakosta, the former Presidents of the COA Municipality of Georgios Georgiadis and Kleanthis Georgiadis, and the Head of the Sports Sector of the Nicosia Municipality Valerios Daniilides, the former MP Andreas Mousskallis and the former President of the EAK Panagiotis Felloukas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Also in attendance were the Marketing Director of OPAP Cyprus Mrs. Thoula Mannaridou, Mr. Yiannos Michaelides (Chief Executive Officer Cablenet) and the Director of Operations and Development of the BIOIATRIKI Group in Cyprus Mr. Anastasios Kalogiannis. In the OPAP Competitiveness Hall were also Presidents and representatives of Sports Federations, coaches, athletes, students of the Universities of Cyprus, and many friends of sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The main speaker was the legendary figure of Cypriot sport Stavros Tziortzis, Professor at the University of Athens, who developed the topic \u00abThe sporting model and factors undermining sport\u00bb. In his speech, Mr. Tziortzis referred to the important role of the family in creating the characters of athletes who will later develop into role models for society and the need for continuous efforts at all levels to combat doping in sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Athens Olympic gold medallist Demosthenes Tabakos added a sparkle to this year's Session, who in his presentation presented the \u00abOlympic Experiences of a Gold Medallist\u00bb. Mr. Tabakos focused on the important role of Education in shaping each athlete, also presenting important figures of sport and culture, who became role models in their countries, and in the international arena, with a background beyond their successes in the Education they possessed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The extremely high level of the speakers of the Session was also composed by the Director of the National Olympic Academy of Greece, Ms. Denise Panagopoulou, who presented the \u00abActions and Programmes of the National Olympic Academy of Greece. for the promotion of the Olympic Standards in modern society\u00bb and the President of the Panhellenic Union of Physical Education Graduates Mr. Dimitris Grigoriadis who in his speech developed the topic \u00abThe social role of Physical Education Graduates and the Olympic Standards\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Presentations were also made by COE Officer George Korellis from his participation in the 15th IOA Session for Presidents and Directors of Olympic Academies and Georgia Christoforou from her participation in the 61st IOA Session for Young Participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The presentations were the starting point for a discussion that developed between the speakers and the participants with substantial comments on the problems and proposals on the topic addressed by the Summit. The conclusions from the presentations and the proposals of the entire Session were summarised by the Dean of the EOCC, Clea Papaellina. Mrs Papaellina also referred to the forthcoming actions of the EOCA, in view of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the Olympic Academy, announcing the organization of the 1st Student Congress in which students from all Sports Schools will participate and which will take place in Larnaca, as well as the planning of EOCA events in all cities of Cyprus, and the actions taken for the organization of the next Anniversary Session in Ancient Olympia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/hoa.org.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/NIC_9789-1024x683.jpg\")
